SEASON COMMENCEMENT

The season started off better then any expectations on Saturday with a 23 goal defeat of last years second place Rupertswood.
The reserves also turned a 28 goal defeat from last year into a 12 goal win on Saturday. Coach Spider Kennedy was more then impressed with his young side. 17 year old Matt Boland debut with 9 goals was the best at the club since Tim Sullivan in 1991 according to all reports after the game. "Lots of similarity with my debut" Tim said .Well we all have got better with age was the response. Darren Rochford also kicked 9 goals in a best on ground effort.

Next home game is on the 3rd of May against Hampton Rovers so get down to the ground to cheer the boys on!

LEGEND PASSES

The sad news last week of the passing of an all time great of the club, Alan Davidson.

Alan was a life member of the club, 350 game player and all time legend . He was to turn 80 last week and his birthday party at
the clubrooms still went ahead as a celebration of his life. The players in all sides wore black arm bands as a mark of respect, and Alan would have been proud of all that took the field on the day. Alan jnr spoke to the teams before the game and really inspired the boys .He also spoke briefly at the Presidents lunch on game day . Best wishes to Alan and families again from all past players and fellow life members.

PLAYER PROFILE

Steve (Spider ) Kennedy

Spider current coach of the senior team has had a wealth of football experience. He played 50 games with Sandringham VFL, Seaford including 3rd in comp B+F,Cheltenham including 2nd in comp B+F and St Pats Mentone including B+F.

He also coached St Kilda under 15's and under 19's, cached Seaford, Cheltenham and St Pats Mentone all including 4 flags.

He was assistant coach for Sandy Dragons Dandy Stingrays and Victorian metro under 18's with an extra 5 flags during his time.

Spider has also been recruiting officer for Brisbane for 3 years an of course it was 2001-2004 when they won 3 flags. He also won a
flag playing superules and has been a selector for Victoria from under 15 - 18's over 9 years and all this is only about 3/4's of his resume.

It makes all our footy careers seem quite dull hey! except for Phil Emmett but he is a freak.
Some where along the way Spider managed to get married and have 3 kids . It must have happened on the 3 nights he was actually home,so he has a good success rate in that department also.

I was trying to find some dirt on Spider or some footy trip stories but all i got was a 6 page resume of the highest quality. Maybe its
time to relax into the coaching job and we will try to get him to slip up during the year. For those who do not know Spider introduce yourself for a chat. He is an interesting guy and will also be interested in you.

Cheers! T.D.

Coterie Club
100 x 100’s Club

In the past the Parkdale Vultures (Parkdale Football Club / St Pat’s Mentone Football Club) has given
all past players and officials some great times and fantastic memories, and in return all the Club has ever asked was for your participation.

Well once again, we ask for your participation. Our Committee has decided to form a Century Club or 100 x 100’s Coterie Group.

Now is your opportunity to become a foundation member, our target is 100 past players and officials to contribute $100.00 thereby raising $10,000.

What you get for your contribution is:-

* Club recognition on commitment sheet in Clubrooms
* 2 free drinks after all home games
* Entry to annual luncheon at a major home game
* Fortnightly emails about all Club events and doings
* Home games business card draw, for great prizes after match

All the money raised will go back to the playing group in the form of player facilities (e.g. gym equipment, footballs, tracksuits, coaching aids, etc) and most importantly some player welfare funding.

Please take this opportunity to participate and become involved again. As you well know the hardest and most thankless task in any Club is raising sponsorship. This is an innovative idea that helps spread the load and enables you to re-kindle those fond memories of yesteryear.

Attached is a copy of our draw for the C grade amateur competition this year. We would very much like to see you back in the Club.

Your cheque for $100.00 can be made payable to the Parkdale Vultures Amateur Football Club, or you can pay on the day.
