3 V's wear the Big V

A big congratulations goes out to 3 of the 2011 Senior Premiership team members Mitch Grant, Paul Groves and Zeke McCarthy who were selected to represent the VAFA C-D4 side that played against Eastern Football League last Sunday.

Zeke was also named Vice Captain of the side. This is a great reward for all the hard work Zeke has put into his football over the past few seasons and he is a credit to all at the Parkdale Vultures Football Club.

In an entertaining contest the VAFA side held a 1 point lead at the long break. The EFL then came out with a blistering 6 goal third quarter and whilst the Ammo's piled on 7 of their own in the last quarter, they couldn't quite claw back the lead as the EFL also added 6 of their own to take out the match by 17 points.

All 3 players acquitted themselves well, in particular our own reigning B&F Winner, Mitch, who was named in the best players for the VAFA.

For 2012, the Parkdale Vultures will again have a Superules side, for players over 35, competing in Division 2 (Southern) of the Victorian Metro Superules League.

Playing Superules is great opportunity to keep fit, enjoy a competitive game every second week and relive the glory days of yesteryear. We promote and encourage a family friendly environment and a great social atmosphere.

Pre-Season for 2012 will commence on Wednesday 1st Feb (TBC) at Gerry Green Reserve commencing at 6.00pm and we encourage all players to attend.

The Season starts on April 1st and features 11 Games (6 at Home).

Senior & Under 19 Squads Training

Pre-Season training for the Senior and Under 19 squads has recommenced and training sessions are on Mondays and Wednesdays starting at 6.00pm.

As we prepare for our assault on the 2012 season we need to have a very strong fitness base. This pre-season will be tough but enjoyable, so the more sessions that you attend the easier it will be.

To achieve our goals for the year we require strong commitment from all players, and it is crucial that you make as many sessions as you can to try to improve. We can’t win a premiership in the pre-season, but we can set the foundations. Putting in the hard yards now will pay off later in the season.

The Parkdale Vultures AGM was held on Wednesday 9th November at Gerry Green Reserve and the committee was pleased to report a sound financial position in what was otherwise a challenging year in regards to off-field activities.

Out-going President, George Clarke, provided a detailed wrap-up of highlights and events from 2011 and Wayne Benton presented the financial statements which included an operating profit of near on $8k. You can view their reports, along with the coaches reports in the Annual Report below.

From the Committee, Stephen Sullivan has stepped down after 6 years service so as to concentrate all of his energy towards his playing role in the coming season, as has Justin McCarthy, who stepped in as Secretary this year, due to family commitments with the impending birth of his second child.

Looking forward to 2012, congratulations to the new Committee Members.

Luke Borella - Under 19s Coach

We would like to announce that Luke Borella has been appointed as the Under 19 Coach for 2012. Luke is a teacher and has a number of years experience coaching young players and we welcome him to our club.
